As we navigate through the rough waters of adulthood and all its accompanying responsibilities, we tend to lose touch with our lighter side, our playful, imaginative, magical child within. That magical child is the part of us that brings joy to our lives, sparkles with new ideas, believes in possibilities, has inspirations, enjoys belly laughs, tries new experiences. We need to invite that aspect of ourselves back into our daily lives. To do that we can remember the things we loved doing when we were younger and have set aside, we can open ourselves to spontaneity, we can try a new form of artistic expression, we can pay attention to our impulses, which may be ideas flowing from our higher selves or intuition, we can allow ourselves “down time,” letting our imaginations freely take new directions without following a task list. Giving air time to your magical child brings happiness back into life!
GETTING OUT OF A DOWNWARD SPIRAL
If you’re looking for a quick way out of a mind-trap or emotional downward spiral, consider that the mind is your craft – your boat, starship, vehicle – and you are the captain. You can take your mind into troubled, murky waters, or you can maneuver it into clear, calm seas. You are the creator of your reality. Choose to think positively about any situation, person, and you’ll create better and better solutions, have wise impulses and inspirations, and attract improved circumstances and opportunities to yourself.
When you’re hopelessly depressed or upset beyond clarity, just find a simple way to soothe yourself. Take a hot bath or shower, drink a comforting cup of coffee or tea, take a walk. As you sail into calmer waters, your mind clears and you begin to have inspirations and solutions, or at least “next steps,” come to you. New perspectives come to you. Follow that up with a purposeful series of positive statements about your life and situation, and you’ll soon be easily sailing downstream to your goals, to better circumstances and manifestations.
In my work, I bring in the truths of the Law of Attraction: that we are vibrational beings and that what we put out into the world, be it an energy of anger and pessimism, or eagerness and joy, is what we attract to us. Like attracts like. Through hypnotherapy journeys and through Neuro-linguistic Programming techniques, you can re-program your outlook and habits to embrace positive beliefs and a new way of living, and thus attract better and better experiences.
This law can be reflected in the body in terms of disease. When someone maintains a long-term attitude and vibration of stress, negativity, fear, shame, anger, resentment, etc., it can begin to show up in the body as imbalance and eventually disease. More and more research and awareness is emerging on the connection between mind and the conditions of the body. I see disease as separation from one’s divine source. The more separation one feels from the source of love and power, whether you term it God, the Universal Power, Love, or some other name, the less empowered and free you are.
